With DietPi and Logitech Media Server on RPi, several of us users have lost access to our Spotify Premium accounts since Christmas ;-(
The developer of the plugin Spotify for LMS seems to have managed to resolve this issue with all operating systems except DietPi.
Would you be so kind as to try and resolve this in collaboration with him ?
I love your OS and I just made a donation a few weeks ago. I would be sad to have to leave you and switch to another OS like PiCore Player to be able to access my Spotify account again.
No, unfortunately itās not that simple, otherwise I wouldnāt have written this postā¦
DietPi + LMS + Spotify stopped working after Christmas 2025 ;-(
Spotify has changed its access policy,
Michael succeeded in making it accessible to many people, but not to those who use DietPi.
Please cooperate with him to get it working again. Weāve been racking our brains over this problem for 10 days without finding the slightest solution.
Iām afraid only you can help Michael solve thisā¦
We do not have any special config or so, nor we interfere with the LMS plugins. This is a problem of spotty plugin, and not LMS itself. LMS itself is working on DietPi, but what LMS is doing internally with itās plugins is out of our scope.
Please contact the Spotty plugin maintainer.
edit:
When I look at the LMS forum and the GitHub issues, I see users who primarily report thath new accounts are not working, but old Spotify accounts are okay.
Iāve already been trying to resolve this with Michael (the Spotty plugin maintainer) for the past 10 days. It works with Windows, Linux Mint, PicorePlayer, etc, but not DietPi.
If you refuse to actively help us with this problem, you leave us no choice but to stop using your OS⦠and I think other users will do the same eventually.
Unlike you, the people at PicorePlayer actively collaborate with the people of LMS.
Offering official LMS support for your scripts and refusing to optimize your OS so that everything works correctly is not morally respectful to us users.
If you donāt help us, I will simply stop using DietPi ;-(
I will ask @MichaIng to take a look. Of course, it would also have been possible for the plugin maintainer to write to us on GitHub directly, with the exact information that is missing. Problem solving is never a one-way street.
