Hello, a quick note to tell you that the Diet-Pi 9.9 update has replaced in the /bin
directory of my RPi5 the official squeezelite meta package correcting the native FLAC problems with Debian ;-(
So I had to manually reinstall this debugged version allowing to run correctly LMS that you offer natively for use but in a not “unbuggy” version to music reading of Flac radios ;-(
After that I had to use the apt-mark hold
function to avoid such problems in the future. But this forces me to do manual updates in the future which I am not happy about.
The sourceforge directory provided above is the official repository of Ralphy the Squezeelite developer.
As long as Debian contains a buggy FLAC package, it would be really desirable that you trust the official developer of this software and integrate his solution into DietPi to make LMS 100% functional.
If you don’t trust the tools he uses to create this meta-package, ask him how he creates it and do it yourself please.
I’ve only been using Diet-Pi for a few months, I recently made a financial donation to support you. But I have to admit that because of this recurring problem with Squezeelite and Flac on Diet-Pi / Debian, I’m starting to wonder if I should migrate to a solution like Moode Audio to avoid other problems in the future…
I hope that your goal is to make life easier for your OS users and keep them loyal to Diet-Pi. For this I strongly advise you to take a measure to definitively resolve this problem, otherwise the difficulties will continue for us users and people will migrate to other solutions…
I wish you a very happy and prosperous 2025. I hope you will bring the best of the available solutions to Diet-Pi users, because for the moment it is not great for listening to web radios in FLAC, the playback crashes at each change of titles if you listen to for example Sing Sing Bis and many other web radios in FLAC ;-(
