Dietpi 9.8 update to 9.9 isn't shown

Creating a bug report/issue

Hi forum,

i have the problem that the update to 9.9 does not show when i ssh to my device…
I run a second Odroid C2 which i use to test new versions of dietpi, that one showed the new update, i ran it and anything is fine. But my main-device does NOT show up the update…

Any ideas how i could myke the trigger appear? or should i just run dietpi-update without the information given?

I have searched the existing open and closed issues

Extra details

I ran “dietpi-update”, the update now showed up.
After NOT installing the update , it showed up in the diet-banner-menue…
I still wander why the update did not show up before…

usually the banner information is generated/download once a night using the daily cron job. Can you check if this is still active

dietpi-cron

Or did you disable the update check? Default value is 1

cat /boot/dietpi.txt | grep CONFIG_CHECK_DIETPI_UPDATES

You can always execute dietpi-update. It makes no difference at all whether something is displayed in the banner or not. The banner display is purely cosmetic and has no effect. The update function will always search for a new version itself and offer it if available.

Hi Joulinar,

thanks for yout help!
Theoutpu of cat /boot/dietpi.txt | grep CONFIG_CHECK_DIETPI_UPDATES

is : CONFIG_CHECK_DIETPI_UPDATES=1

i typed crontab -e as root, there was an empty crontab.
The same for unser dietpi…
I am nor familiar with the dietpi-cron, but it looks empty…

Greets, Tom

nope it’s not empty. Our script’s use /etc/cron.daily, /etc/cron.hourly/, /etc/cron.minutely/, /etc/cron.monthly/ and /etc/cron.weekly/. According dietpi-cron all seems to be fine. Maybe a temp issue whild downloading new release information. All good I would say.

OK, till that moment anything went fine, so looking forward to 9.10 oder 10.0 or whats planned nest!
Thanks for your help!

Hi folks,
i think i can describe my “issue” more in detail now.
It seems that dietpi-banner hangs…
I still get a Christmas-Greeting when i ssh to my system…
The christmastree on top of the forum dissapeared, so i think this should be the same for dietpi-banner.

Can someone please help me reactivating the banner?
Thanks in advance, Tom

nope 2 different thinks. The banner has not been updated yet

simple wait until next week. Our developer is till on xmas vacation somewhere around the globe.
