Did we failed to update OS release info?

Hi all, I guess I must not understand Dietpi releases. I thought the latest release v9.16.3 upgraded the OS to Debian 13 - Trixie and happily upgraded last month. While puttering around tonight I had to do some searching for the OS version…. and here’s what I found…

dietpi@worker-n2plus:~$ cat /etc/debian_version
12.12
dietpi@worker-n2plus:~$ cat /etc/os-release
PRETTY_NAME=“Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)”
NAME=“Debian GNU/Linux”
VERSION_ID=“12”
VERSION=“12 (bookworm)”
VERSION_CODENAME=bookworm
ID=debian
HOME_URL=“https://www.debian.org/”
SUPPORT_URL=“https://www.debian.org/support”
BUG_REPORT_URL=“https://bugs.debian.org/”
dietpi@worker-n2plus:~$ cat /etc/debian_version
12.12
dietpi@worker-n2plus:~$ cat /etc/issue
Debian GNU/Linux 12 \n \l

Is this normal for a system that started off with Debian 12 - Bookworm and was upgraded via Dietpi 9.16? Do I need to do a fresh install to get Debian 13?

This is a misunderstanding. dietpi-update is not going to do a Destro upgrade. It’s not intended nor planned.

Destro upgrade to Trixie would need to be done manually. Debian 13 Trixie has been released – DietPi Blog
