Maybe an issue with latest Chromium build. You can try to downgrade

I used a back up to avoid the upgrading, but I will have to upgrade some day, I guess. Any idea that if I run the upgrade, then the downgrade, will the auto upgrade skip Chromium untill a new upgrade arrives?

you would need to pin current version to avoid further upgrades.

The command for that is sudo apt-mark hold chromium chromium-common.

Thanks
