Best supported board after RPI?

Hello everyone. I was wondering,

  1. What is the best DietPi supported board after Raspberry Pi?
  2. Which is the most powerful board well supported by DietPi?

Thanks!

I’d say Odroid XU4 or C2. Both good and run DietPi well. The XU4 is more powerful, C2 is best SBC for Kodi due to its x265 hardware decoding.
Both have eMMC support. I’ve had Raspberry I, 2, 3 Banana Pi M1, Orange Pi Zero. the Odroids beat them all.

But - if you want to be more cutting edge then try one of these:

There are many similar devices around. Installing DietPi is a bit harder on these but there are instructions available. I’ve had one running since Christmas and it is excellent. It may look more expensive than the others but the price includes shipping, PSU, case, cables and Windows license - I wiped Windows but I believe the licence can be transferred to another computer - but haven’t tried.

Edit - they come with 32 GB eMMC on board also.

Hi John, thank you for the quick response. I am more focusing on doing server work or things that don’t need the GPU that much, eg OwnCloud, VPN, FTP etc. I will definitely look into Odroid but how is the Orange Pi performing with DietPi? My budget is $35 and I see that so far OrangePi (64 bit) and Pine 64 with 2GB is in that range. I believe OPi comes with Wifi but the Pine 64 doesn’t.

I have two OPi Zeros and wouldn’t recommend them for anything serious - they are great for experimentation. I found they often crash after a few days use (although one ran for 60+ days once). I’ve tried Armbian and DietPi on then - same story. The lack of video output makes debugging difficult. The more expensive models may be better but I’ve no experience with them.

If you throttle them back and have good heatsinking it makes them run MUCH more stable…those H3 processors just run hot hot hot!

I’ve got heatsinks but haven’t tried throttling them back - I’ll give this a go.
