Best desktop for my needs?

Hi all

I’ve got Dietpi x86_64 headless installed on a PC and am thinking about installing a desktop environment with the main aim to install Jellyfin media player, Kodi and other apps for IPTV, youtube etc. I’ve tried those desktops in Dietpi software but had errors when installing Jellyfin at least and could not resolve these as not a Linux expert.

I would be grateful for some recommendations for a suitable desktop environment for these apps, especially one that supports Wayland as I would like to try Waydroid for native android app use (assume it would work with X86_64 as most android apps for Arm./…?). I am not worried about a light desktop, just one that has a user friendly interface and enough dependancies/drivers installed so that I shouldn’t have many troubleshooting steps when trying to install things. Also a DE that supports flatpak?

thanks all, Happy new year!

Maybe these posts are a first starting point:

thanks, I’ll check this out, however I need to better understand the difference between X11 and Wayland before committing as I would like to experiment with Wayland/Waydroid

thank you
