Automatically Boot Into Desktop

Hi,
I have just joined the community as a new DietPi user.

I apologise for deleting the template, but I don’t believe this is an issue, it’s just me not knowing what I am doing with DietPi.

I am completely new to DietPi and have just installed it on a fresh SD card to use in a Car with Kodi and Tunerstudio and a couple of other things.

I used this DietPi docs and this video tutorial to download and install DietPi:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-UXenzA2m8

When it came to installing optional software, I selected ‘lxde’ and ‘Kodi’.
I then tried to work out how to get it to automatically login (which I thought was the lxde Desktop)

I think I did everything correctly but I want Diet Pi to automatically boot to the Desktop (for now).
When it starts it automatically logs in (I was confused between the choices to set this up - root or dietpi IIRC).

To get to the LXDE desktop I have to type

sudo startx

Which I spotted on the video.

I then get the DietPi LXDE Desktop and Kodi can be started from the Icon on the Desktop.

How do I get DietPi to automatically boot straight into the Desktop.
Eventually I am hoping to setup a custom minimal GUI from which I can switch between TunerStudio digital dashboards / tuning software and Kodi and other things like Sat Nav.

Many thanks

# dietpi-autostart

OK - I sussed it thanks to your link.
I selected ‘LightDM Login Mask’ and rebooted the Pi.
No I get a username and password box which when completed causes the Pi to boot into Diet Pi Desktop.

How do I auto login?

Thanks

Ah ha - sussed it.
I entered dietpi-config and selected autostart options, then from there I selected Automatic Login.

Now it boots direct to the Desktop
