I’m currently running DietPI Bookworm on an old Dell D630 & HP EliteBook.
Gnome-Boxes installs and opens but on adding Debian Testing is errors and when selecting DietPI Installer or System image it locks up XFCE.

Could you be a little bit more specific on what exactly your issue is? Some error messages or log files? Keep in mind, Debian Bookworm is still under development and thinks might not goanna work as expected.
