Errors during LXDE & TigerVNC dietpi-software install?

Post by baremetaloctopus »

I would like to run the Discord client or webapp on LXDE so I have a persistent presence on a server I use but I have received errors during the installation of LXDE and TigerVNC. There was a dialogue which I was about to screenshot but I pressed a key by accident and it disappeared bringing me back to the terminal.

Please review the errors here and tell me how I can resolve this:

Hi,

looks like your file system has issues as it is set to read/only

Code: Select all

dpkg: error: unable to create new file '/var/lib/dpkg/status-new': Read-only file system
This could indicate some file system corruption. Let's have a look

Code: Select all

lsblk -o name,fstype,label,size,ro,type,mountpoint,partuuid,uuid
cat /etc/fstab
dmesg -l err,crit,alert,emerg
mount
Pls let us know if a solution is working. This could help others if they hit by similar situation. Your DietPi Team

I was going to try post the errors I receive when trying the testdisk and other method to recover Jackett settings from this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=8867&hilit=jackett&start=20

but it just seem down a path of suggested fixes from terminal and then more errors, perhaps it is all related to read only.

Since posting, on the reboot command failing, I closed my SSH connection and attempted to relog but my copied and pasted password was rejected repeatedly - now accepted after a hard reset.

Please find errors output when trying the commands you suggested:

Code: Select all

dietpi@DietPi:~$ lsblk -o name,fstype,label,size,ro,type,mountpoint,partuuid,uuid
-bash: lsblk: command not found
dietpi@DietPi:~$ cat /etc/fstab
-bash: cat: command not found
dietpi@DietPi:~$ dmesg -l err,crit,alert,emerg
-bash: dmesg: command not found
dietpi@DietPi:~$ sudo lsblk -o name,fstype,label,size,ro,type,mountpoint,partuuid,uuid
Bus error
dietpi@DietPi:~$ sudo cat /etc/fstab
Bus error
Also stuck again unable to reboot:

Code: Select all

dietpi@DietPi:~$ dietpi@DietPi:~$ reboot
-bash: dietpi@DietPi:~$: command not found
dietpi@DietPi:~$ -bash: reboot: command not found
-bash: -bash:: command not found
dietpi@DietPi:~$ sudo reboot
Bus error

Pls try to login as user root. Your system seems to have serious issues.

I could not login again as either root or dietpi, but on hard reset this fixed that. I confirmed dietpi now allows login, then I logged out and back in as root to paste the commands:

Code: Select all

root@DietPi:~# lsblk -o name,fstype,label,size,ro,type,mountpoint,partuuid,uuid

Ok looks system booted correct. At least no errors at the moment. Can you do following to perform a basic check

Code: Select all

> /forcefsck
reboot
# after reboot
journalctl -t systemd-fsck
Pls let us know if a solution is working. This could help others if they hit by similar situation. Your DietPi Team

Code: Select all

root@DietPi:~# /forcefsck
-bash: /forcefsck: No such file or directory
root@DietPi:~# ./forcefsck
-bash: ./forcefsck: No such file or directory
root@DietPi:~# forcefsck
-bash: forcefsck: command not found
root@DietPi:~# /forcefsck
-bash: /forcefsck: No such file or directory
root@DietPi:~# sudo /forcefsck
sudo: /forcefsck: command not found
Should I try reboot (hard reset if necessary) again, or is there something else I should try while it is in this state?
