RPI 2 Model B Rev 1.1 wrong RAM size ?

Hi,
I'm new to DietPi and to this forum.

A couple of years ago I was given a RPI 2 Model B Rev 1.1 that’s I’ve been using raspbian for home networking and some other experimenting. I migrated to DietPi following the recommendation of a friend for reducing the RAM usage and extending SD Card life. Kudos to the team for the excellent work!!

Everything runs ok but I believe that it sets the total RAM available incorrectly. Using DietPi v7.1.2.

I tried disabling ramlog and using a swapfile but the available memory remains the same.

Is this a bug or is my understanding wrong?

can you have a look. I guess we just take the value from /proc/meminfo right?

G_HW_MEMORY_SIZE is read from the RPi revision code a01041
The a indicates it's a 1 GiB RAM RPi model. It's number 10 in hexadecimal counting and the RAM size is 256*2^(10-8)=1024 (MiB) then. So b would mean 2 GiB and 9 would mean 512 MiB.

I have the same RPi revision here, and free as well as /proc/meminfo report the correct physical RAM size here. Could you paste your kernel/boot messages?

Ah, how much GPU memory did you apply?

And the voltage is not stable enough. To avoid issue, see if you can use a better PSU, sometimes only a better cable is already enough.

I set it up as a headless device. Here's the gpu memory settings

gpu_mem_1024=512
Any ideas how to reclaim the reserved memory?

I am aware of the PSU issue. Currently this pi is on a mobile phone charger (2A). Planning to buy a rasberry pi one. If you have any other recommendations on PSU I am more than willing to invest in it :)

Just configured the option via dietpi-config. I thought that the headless option I chose during the initial setup was adequate. Now I get:

Not sure what PSU you are running at the moment. Best is to use an official power supply.

From our side we recommend at least 2 GB RAM in total. Running following will ensure this

/boot/dietpi/func/dietpi-set_swapfile 1
But at the end it depends on your needs. 8)
