How to properly autostart desktop from dietpi.txt

Post by locallocco »

Installing dietpi without user input. I installed LXQt and want it to start after boot: as I understand it I had this part in my dietpi.txt

AUTO_SETUP_AUTOMATED=1+173 # 173 is id of LXQt
AUTOSETUP_AUTOSTART_TARGET=16 # 16=Desktop

It does not work so I assume config options are incorrect.

Hi, sure but that is not what I want - I want to be able to get to desktop without user input --> that is why I posted contents of dietpi.txt

i love dietpi and have been using it habitually on all my pis and a few VMs for docker containers/backup DNS servers and the one thing i just dislike with a passion is the autostart menu. if anything, just use the document the autostart writes to. the GUI representation is counter-intuitive compared to all else in the build.

@locallocco

I checked your initial issue and performed a test installation. Before first boot, I selected LXQt and the autostart to 2 (Desktop autologin). The whole installation was working well using DietPi dev branch. LXQt was starting without issues once auto installation finished.
