trust you're well.
please note I have a samba share setup, I have installed dietpi and moved the os and installation to an external source 1TB HDD which is the share as well. I have mapped it on a windows pc as a network drive and created 3 folders within the share through windows :
What I would like to find is this, how do I password protect the software folder so no one will be able to access with out the credentials and/or is it possible to have only a specified user able to view this file.
Having issues with your DietPi installation or found a bug? Post it here.

I did not test it myself but you could create a new OS user and assign r/w permission on that specific folder for the user. Next step would be to add the user into SAMBA config as well.
Pls let us know if a solution is working. This could help others if they hit by similar situation. Your DietPi Team
