Shell session for username rtorrent

Post by z5z »

Hi guys!

I wanted to configure irssi with autodl script but for this sake I need to set it up from the rtorrent user shell. How do I do that? When I tried to log in as an rtorrent user I got the wrong password info but I tried with both root and rutorrent web-ui password so I guess the rtorrent user cannot be loged-into by default?

Hi,

many thanks for your message. This is working as expected because user rtorrent is created with option nologin. Means you are not able to login with that user.

Code: Select all

root@DietPi4:~# cat /etc/passwd | grep rtorrent
rtorrent:x:999:1000::/mnt/dietpi_userdata/rtorrent:/usr/sbin/nologin
root@DietPi4:~#
You could try following sudo -u rtorrent <command> to execute your script as user rtorrent[/color.
Pls let us know if a solution is working. This could help others if they hit by similar situation. Your DietPi Team
