The if statement is present in dietpi boot.ini, no sata recognized. Redownloaded image to confirm, and got the same results. Meveric image sata recognized before update, but not after update and reboot.

That is a good hint, thanks for testing and feedback, so then the kernel update broke SATA.

Which SATA drive are you using? And if you have the DietPi SD card still at hand, could you check for some kernel messages and how much of the drive or controller is detected at all?

I'm not good in reading those, but amlogic-pcie-v2 fc000000.pcieA: the device class is not reported correctly from the register looks like it could be related. @BitWise, by any chance, are you able to boot to the Petitboot and run fdisk or lspci to check your SATA issue?

Strange that in my case, the file was explicitly replaced nicely: https://github.com/MichaIng/DietPi/issu ... -754921553
But as can be seen, I found another issue that the postinst script does not rename the new kernel on HC4. Please try:

mv /boot/Image /boot/Image.gz
However, the SATA drive is already detected now, so you're able to mount it already? I still recommend to do the above naming steps.
