Radarr won't start

Post by MikeDeezy »

Pardon me if I'm missing sharing any key details.

I'm currently running DietPi v. 6.34.3 (beta) and all of my applications are running just fine with the exception of Radarr.

Sonarr, Jackett, qbittorrent, wireguard are working just fine. However, when using dietpi-services radarr shows the status "failed". When I try to manually start it it'll show either "Active" or "Activating" and immediately switch back to failed.

When I look under "status" it shows the following:

Code: Select all

radarr.service - Radarr Daemon (DietPi)
│ Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/radarr.service; disabled; vendor
│ preset: enabled)
│ Drop-In: /etc/systemd/system/radarr.service.d
│ └─dietpi-services_edit.conf
│    Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Mon 2020-12-21 16:35:18 GMT;
│ 7min ago
│ Process: 1645 ExecStart=/opt/radarr/Radarr -nobrowser
│ -data=/mnt/dietpi_userdata/radarr (code=exited, status=226/NAMESPACE)
│ Main PID: 1645 (code=exited, status=226/NAMESPACE)
│
│ Dec 21 16:35:18 DietPi systemd[1]: radarr.service: Service RestartSec=100ms
│ expired, scheduling restart.
│ Dec 21 16:35:18 DietPi systemd[1]: radarr.service: Scheduled restart job,
│ restart counter is at 5.
│ Dec 21 16:35:18 DietPi systemd[1]: Stopped Radarr Daemon (DietPi).
│ Dec 21 16:35:18 DietPi systemd[1]: radarr.service: Start request repeated
│ too quickly.
I did search this forum and didn't seem to find any recent posts regarding this sort of issue with Radarr.

I've tried removing and reinstalling the application but I cannot get it to start (or access it by browser of course).

Hopefully I'm just missing something simple. I've checked for any updates( apt-get update/upgrade) with nothing showing. I don't believe it's a mono issue as both Sonarr and Jackett work.

Thank you.

Hi,

many thanks for your message. Can you check radarr log file for error messages

Code: Select all

systemctl restart radarr.service
cat /var/log/radarr/radarr.txt
Pls let us know if a solution is working. This could help others if they hit by similar situation. Your DietPi Team

Hello and thank you for the reply.

Code: Select all

root@DietPi:~# systemctl restart radarr.service
root@DietPi:~# cat /var/log/radarr/radarr.txt
cat: /var/log/radarr/radarr.txt: No such file or directory
This is weird right? It was working up and until at least last week (last time I checked it at least) so not sure why I don't have anything here.

It's worked!

Code: Select all

root@DietPi:~# sudo -u radarr /opt/radarr/Radarr -nobrowser -data=/mnt/dietpi_userdata/radarr
[Info] Bootstrap: Starting Radarr - /opt/radarr/Radarr.dll - Version 3.0.1.4259

Strange...I wonder why DietPi cannot start it (and manage it) automatically.

Well DietPi is doing nothing else. There is a Radarr service and this should contain exactly the same ExecStart command. Can you check how service configuration looks like

systemctl cat radarr.service

I tried using your service configuration and it was working without issue. Let's check on the log file if there are issues.

Code: Select all

ls -la /var/log
ls -la /var/log/radarr

Thank you for your assistance with all this.

Code: Select all

root@DietPi:~# ls -la /var/log

drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 Dec 21 22:21 .
drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 4096 Aug 4 19:39 ..

-rw-rw-r-- 1 root utmp 291416 Dec 21 22:26 lastlog
drwx------ 2 root root 4096 Jun 8 2020 private

drwxr-xr-x 2 sonarr dietpi 4096 Aug 4 19:39 sonarr
-rw-rw-r-- 1 root utmp 489216 Dec 21 22:26 wtmp

Code: Select all

root@DietPi:~# ls -la /var/log/radarr
total 72
drwxr-xr-x 2 radarr dietpi 4096 Dec 21 22:27 .
drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 Dec 21 22:21 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 radarr dietpi 32768 Dec 21 22:27 logs.db
-rw-r--r-- 1 radarr dietpi 31728 Dec 21 22:27 radarr.txt
I'm not sure what caused everything to break recently but I think I know where some of my issue may be from.

When the change was done for DietPi installs of Sonarr and Radarr there was something I changed (that I can't recall or replicate, unfortunately) to allow Radarr and Sonarr to see all of my rclone-mounted media folders that, by default, the DietPi installed versions were blind to.

If you wouldn't mind I have two questions:

1. How can I fully remove every instance of Radarr from my system so I can start completely new? Because, as it stands, even when I uninstall Radarr via dietpi-software and reinstall it the service still fails to start.
2. What setting can I change to allow Radarr to access any folder on my filesystem?

I apologize for these awful n00b questions. I'm mildly tech-literate usually but I have almost no real experience with Linux.

Re: Radarr won't start

there is a protection/hardening setting inside radarr service configuration allowing access to following folder only ;)

Code: Select all

ReadWritePaths=/opt/radarr /mnt /media /var/log/radarr /tmp
Basically use dietpi-software to remove radarr. Once done reboot your systems. Back online, just check for files related to radarr

Code: Select all

find / -name "radarr"
