DietPi Installation size

Post by Mez882 »

Hi,
I am thinking of buying an Odroid C2 and would like to run it with DietPi.
I have the option to buy either a 8gb eMMc or 32gb but the 32gb is pricey.
So my question is: what size does your DietPi take depending of your installations?
If we could all list our experiences with a short description, I think that would help me and others choose their Emmc or SD card.

My main focus will be:
Kodi
NAS with an SMB share from an attached usb drive
Maybe desktop & webserver

I'd say around 1-1.5Gb for that software. As long as you keep your media files on the USB drive, you wont go above 2GB.

Remember the R/W speed differences with EMMC, in relation to their capacity. There was a list somewhere on Odroid site, but cant find it at the moment. Generally speaking, larger size = faster. The 128GB is capable of 140MB/s read and write. Its a mammoth.

My XU4 8GB EMMC:

Code: Select all

root@DietPi-XU4:~# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mmcblk0p2 7.0G 918M 6.1G 13% /
Following software installed:

Code: Select all

root@DietPi-XU4:~# dietpi-software list | grep '[[:space:]]=2'
