My main reason for DietPi is to run Logitech media server and Jivelite on the 10Zig thin client. The 4GB drive is a bit of a problem but I can get an extra 16GB flash to add to it internally if I can prove it works on another PC. But I cant get DietPi going on another PC, the Dell to test it.
Whats the best way to install DietPi to the 120GB HDD on the Dell. I can remove the HDD and clone the iso to it.

Basically you would have 3 options to install DietPi on a native PC (bios)
  1. Flash the image directly to your HDD
  2. Use of DietPi installer for native PC (bios)
    • *.iso file to be used https://dietpi.com/downloads/images/Die ... staller.7z
    • connect an USB stick to your computer
    • use a tool like Rufus to burn the *.iso file to your USB stick
    • plug the USB stick into your target system and boot it up from USB stick
    • this will bring you into a Clonezilla menu where you can select the image and target HDD
  3. Use DietPi PREP script
For UEFI based systems, you would need to use
  1. Image: https://dietpi.com/downloads/images/Die ... -Buster.7z
  2. Installer: n/a
  3. Guide: https://github.com/MichaIng/DietPi/wiki ... PCs-(UEFI)

Image installed on 10ZIG flash drive without trouble so that's a good start, thanks.
Now comes my next trouble I am not used to Debian at all and I seem to get stuck with the video driver. Is there a generic desktop I could use and alter later.

by default, DietPi did not contain any additional software. All applications would need to be installed individually. For this, DietPi is offering a software catalogue. It simplify s installation and configuration. Best to have a look into DietPi user guide ;)
