I hoped for a piece of Software to choose from so that making shares, users, SMB on my mounted HHD becomes easier
if not i am obligated to use terminal commands
I tried OMV and although this interface is user friendly Docker and portainer is not
my ultimate goal is to run Plex media server whose shared folders I want to access through win 10

So if I understood correctly, you like to manage Samba shares via a web interface? Correct?

Maybe you can have a look to Webmin. It should have a Samba plugin as well

can you have a look to /etc/samba/smb.conf what user is assigned to the share?

I guess the user you like to use is perco

I quickly installed Webmin on a Demo VM and was able to create a new share, which I could access from my Win10 machine.

Did you checked the SAMBA User section on Webmin? Pls have a look to Samba User and check if perco is listed there. If not, return to previous page and go to Convert Users. There you should check first option Only listed users or UID ranges. Select your user perco and set a password. This is needed because Samba users are different from OS user. Once converted, you should be able to access the share. At least that's how it was working for me.

Side note: I uses DietPi optimised Samba Server installed via dietpi-software
