Ramlog is active but says exited on Dietpi-services

Post by jvrang »

Is it normal to have dietpi-ramlog service in active (exited) mode?

I issued the command dietpi-services status, and the system shows other services on active (running) mode but the ramlog service is on active (exited) mode. Is ramlog still working when in this mode?

yes that's fine with that status. Same on my system 8)

Code: Select all

root@DietPi4:~# systemctl status dietpi-ramlog.service
● dietpi-ramlog.service - DietPi-RAMlog
Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/dietpi-ramlog.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)
Active: active (exited) since Sat 2020-03-28 15:44:44 CET; 2 weeks 2 days ago
 Main PID: 255 (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
    Tasks: 0 (limit: 4915)
   Memory: 0B
   CGroup: /system.slice/dietpi-ramlog.service

Mär 28 15:44:44 DietPi4 systemd[1]: Starting DietPi-RAMlog...
Mär 28 15:44:44 DietPi4 systemd[1]: Started DietPi-RAMlog.
root@DietPi4:~#
To verify you could have a look to the log file

Code: Select all

cat /var/tmp/dietpi/logs/dietpi-ramlog.log
And if you do a reboot, you will see that logs are stored on disk and restored after system is back online.

Code: Select all

Tue 14 Apr 14:26:25 CEST 2020 | DietPi-RAMlog: Storing logs to disk...
Tue 14 Apr 14:26:25 CEST 2020 | DietPi-RAMlog: Stored logs to disk.
Tue 14 Apr 14:26:27 CEST 2020 | DietPi-RAMlog: Restoring logs from disk...
Tue 14 Apr 14:26:27 CEST 2020 | DietPi-RAMlog: Restored logs from disk.
Means the service is in a waiting/sleeping status until you do a reboot or poweroff.
