Google AIY

Post by Chester007 »

A somewhat stupid question but I'll ask anyway.
Do I need to have the Google AIY Kit (HAT, cardboard, speaker, button) to use the installation on DietPi? Or can I just install it, supply the needed .json files, and expect it to work?

@Chester007
AFAIK indeed the Google Kit is required. This is the repo DietPi-Software installs, where you might get further info on dependencies: https://github.com/google/aiyprojects-raspbian
We also configure the sound card to be the Google AIY HAT, but this could be changed afterwards.

If you want something hardware Independent, you might want to try Mycroft AI, which will be available with v6.25 (currently in beta): https://github.com/MichaIng/DietPi/issues/1701
