I have been using it for the past couple of months with my NanoPi NEO2 and NEO4, it's been a joy to use and gets my vote to be added to the DietPi software lineup.

A VPN is a link between two networks, traffic between the two networks is relayed through the VPN server.
ZeroTier is a software defined network, traffic within the network is end to end encrypted over direct connections between nodes (no relaying through a central server).
