Just use the internal updater from its web UI.

Btw, after DietPi v6.23/v6.24 it is now possible to update Nextcloud to v16. Before this was not possible since it did not support PHP7.0 any more.

Hi,

You can try first upgrade PHP to 7.3 and after that upgrade Nextcloud.

I have Odroid XU4 and after freshly installed DietPi, I try to install Nextcloud without success, because the Nextcloud 16 can't be installed with old PHP 7.0 version. So I updated PHP to 7.3 and after that everything was OK.
The full description can be found in my webpage: https://itechbg.net/install-nextcloud-1 ... -linux-os/

If you use Apache2 web server the next lines can help you in your case, but please keep in mind that it was tested only on a freshly installed DietPi without any applications and in your case could damage your applications:

1. Add repos for PHP 7.3:

apt install ca-certificates apt-transport-https
wget -q https://packages.sury.org/php/apt.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add -
echo "deb https://packages.sury.org/php/ stretch main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/php.list
apt update
apt upgrade

2. Install the PHP 7.3 and modules that you need:

apt install php7.3 php7.3-cli php7.3-common php7.3-curl php7.3-fpm php7.3-gd php7.3-intl php7.3-json php7.3-mbstring php7.3-mysql php7.3-opcache php7.3-readline php7.3-xml php7.3-zip php7.3-bz2 php7.3-ldap php-apcu imagemagick php-imagick php-smbclient libapache2-mod-php7.3 php7.3-recode php7.3-tidy php7.3-xmlrpc

3. Now disable mpm_event and activate php7.3 apache modules

a2dismod mpm_event
a2enmod php7.3
systemctl restart apache2

4. Open your web browser and login with your admin account to your Nextcloud. Go to Administration settings and upgrade your Nextcloud.

Please let me know if you try to do it and is it successful.

Best regards,
I. Balabozov

@i.balabozov
Many thanks for your step-by-step instructions.

Just a little hint: The current DietPi update will do exactly the same ;).

Hello everyone,

I just updated to Dietpi v6.24.1 today, and I can't access the Nextcloud web console anymore.
I have the following message :

Code: Select all

This version of Nextcloud is not compatible with > PHP 7.2.
You are currently running 7.3.6-1+0~20190531112735.39+stretch~1.gbp6131b7.
How can I update Nextcloud without access to the admin console ?

Thanks !

@Tassman
Strange, your Nextcloud instance should have been upgraded to 14. Btw you should keep it up-to-date yourself via web UI whenever an update is available, at least via production channel. Nextcloud 14 is EOL for a long time already. Or are you on a Jessie system?

Can you please paste the dietpi-update log to check why this have not been done:

Code: Select all

cat /var/tmp/dietpi/logs/dietpi-update.log
