Hi 4Bob,

Thanks for the report.

Very bizarre. The update seems to be applied correctly, so it looks like the DietPi-Ramdisk isn't saving changes to disk during a shutdown cycle.

Please paste results of the following:

Code: Select all

systemctl status dietpi-service.service -l

Code: Select all

ls -lha /DietPi/

Code: Select all

 cat /DietPi/dietpi/.installed | grep =2

Code: Select all

df -h

I flashed your Image version 120, updates run usually fine without any problems.
Hopefully you have a solution to start from scratch would be really hard :(

Re: Odroid C2 update (from V126 to V127)

Post by Fourdee »

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the results.

It looks like the ramdisk (/DietPi) is loaded and active. Might be the ramdisk service can not save to disk on shutdown, possibly another service throwing it out. So lets check the startup order (and assume its in reverse for shutdown).

Could you paste the results of the following please (press enter until "more" dissapears):

Code: Select all

systemd-analyze blame
Lets also try restarting the ramdisk after dietpi-update (effectively the same as rebooting after updating dietpi).
Please do the following:
Update DietPi:

Code: Select all

dietpi-update
Instead of rebooting, restart dietpi-service:

Code: Select all

systemctl restart dietpi-service.service
Now reboot and check version is v127 afterwards

Code: Select all

reboot
If you find our project or support useful, then we’d really appreciate it if you’d consider contributing to the project however you can.

Hi,

hmm, I have read, that other users with EMMC card at Odroid C2 on other distributions has as well problems to update to the last version:

But so far, nobody knows what's happened or has a solution, except using only SD cards.

Hi,

Thanks for the info!
But not really the same.
problems on my two Odroid C2 after "apt-get update" and "apt-get upgrade". It happens on a freshly installed Armbian_5.14_Odroidc2_Debian_jessie_3.14.72 ...
They have Problems with debian updates under Armbian and it should be fixed.

My system run stable and fine; debian system updates as well ;)
Only diepi software updates, this is different but sucks too !

Hi Bob,

Apologies for the delay.

I left this page open last night with a semi-completed reply, misses turned off my laptop and I don't have a saved draft to remind me lol :(. Apologies.

Ok, ah yes, Ramdisk: https://github.com/Fourdee/DietPi/commi ... dea719528e.

Can you run the following please, this will send a bug report (using a updated version of bugreport) with some system settings I'd like to look over.
No need to fill out the document, I only need the reference code once sent:

Code: Select all

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Fourdee/DietPi/testing/dietpi/dietpi-bugreport -O /DietPi/dietpi/dietpi-bugreport
dietpi-bugreport

Hi Fourdee,
Apologies for the delay.
Hey this is not necessary.
You are awesome !! :)

At this stage I should like to express my grateful thanks for your commitment. I've never seen something like that before!

Regarding the bug-report I need around 2 days for the upload.
Second point I have to exclude some of your code lines; C2 is my new watchdog; e.g. observium syslog-server and so on... /var/log is full of my dirty little secrets ;P

Thanks again for your support which is absolutely cool !

Thanks bob, yep no worries, remove as many lines as needed, just don't remove the #bob lines lol :)
