DietPi won't update on RPi2.

Post by Gravesy »

I keep getting the following error when trying to update : "Error: Obtained server version value from github is invalid. Please try running dietpi-update again.".
I have tried fixes suggested here : http://fuzon.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=362 , no dice.
Installed dietpi fresh from whatever was the latest Jessie image on either March 25th or March 26th.
Bugreport was sent last night, code i got from that was 2720e7db-cddd-40a4-bea8-2b36091b047f-0

Output from using

Code: Select all

date
curl -k -L https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Fourdee/DietPi/testing/dietpi/dietpi-update > /DietPi/dietpi/dietpi-update
dietpi-update

as suggested in the other thread :

Code: Select all

root@******:~# date
Sun Apr 24 16:13:01 CEST 2016 # date and time match this
root@******:~# curl -k -L https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Fourdee/DietPi/testing/dietpi/dietpi-update > /DietPi/dietpi/dietpi-update
% Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current
Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed
100 9960 100 9960 0 0 56085 0 --:--:-- --:--:-- --:--:-- 56271

Error: Obtained server version value from github is invalid. Please try running dietpi-update again.
Ouput for pinging github as per suggestion by Xenformation in the other thread yields average results :

Code: Select all

root@******:~# date; ping -n -c 20 raw.githubusercontent.com

So... Any suggestions ?
(and no, i didn't name my dietpi '*****', the name i used for it isn't kid friendly, so i censored it)
Oh, and for sake of completion, last succesfull update was to v115.

Have you tried to update the Pi today?
I just updated my Pi2 to v116 with no problem at all - just wondering if there was a glitch yesterday and perhaps all well today?

Hi,
Have you tried to update the Pi today?
As well tested after @Gravesy posting yesterday.

It will work on my RPi B+ :

Code: Select all

root@RPi-B-Plus:~# date
Sun 24 Apr 17:15:39 CEST 2016

root@RPi-B-Plus:~# curl -k -L https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Fourdee/DietPi/testing/dietpi/dietpi-update > /DietPi/dietpi/dietpi-update
% Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current
Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed

That's...
Really not helpful at all, since the last thing i want to do is re-image the SD just to update, because then i might as well go back to Raspbian and install everything manually.

@ the other gentlemen : issue persists, sadly.

Hi,

There's a known bug in v116, which I believe is the same issue you are experiencing.

Please can you try running the fix on this page (or code snip below): https://github.com/Fourdee/DietPi/issue ... -151214787. Try running dietpi-update again. If you can let us know the results, i'd be grateful.

Code: Select all

sed -i '/gitbranch=master#Proxy settings/c\gitbranch=master' /DietPi/dietpi.txt

That indeed seems to have fixed the issue ;) *and i guess i was already on v116  no idea how i missed that *

Even sillier though, i checked github twice, glanced right over that issue and the fix both times
