Re: Moving DietPi / Restore on new machine

You can't backup on one set of hardware and restore on another, you need to start afresh.

If you have text based config files, such as for samba, apache2 etc you can copy them to the new machine.

Re: A wiki/guide on restoring a dead Pi

A backup should always be put on different media from the operating system. The dietpi-backup utility is reliable and quick - best to do whole system backup but not hard to exclude e.g. media folders. I can't think of an easier and quicker solution and easy to restore if problems arise.

Re: A wiki/guide on restoring a dead Pi

Plug in a USB flash drive and use

# dietpi-backup

If the system dies reflash and then restore the backup. No easier way as far as I know.

Re: 64 bit support for Odroid

The XU4 is 32 bit - the C2 is 64 bit but with USB 2.0 not ideal for your purpose.

I'm not sure if partitioning the drives on another stsyem would work or not to allow you to use their full capacity?

Re: Stretch to Buster Upgrade

As to the first question it will not happen automatically. Either start anew or clone your card and follow one of the Stretch -> Buster upgrade guides on the web. I did this on an Odroid C2 and it worked fine but no guarantees, hence trying it first on a cloned SD card. I'm sure the Stretch version ...

Re: /mnt/dietpi_userdata permissions reset after software install

Yes this is a known "feature" - you can get round it by installing elsewhere or in my case I have a cron job doing chown etc.
Hopefully it will get fixed @MichaIng ?

Maybe try a new SD card if you haven't?
