Re: "Simple"? ISC DHCP set-up using POE switch for cctv cameras

After playing with this for a while, I had dnsmasq up and running, then it donned on me that I was able to go into all 3 different type of POE cameras I had and assign their ip statically. (I also assigned the dietpi static) This should eliminate the need to run dnsmasq. So far in my testing it is w...

SOLVED Odroid HC1 is defective

The HC1 is defective. After getting a second one I quickly noticed it has a Sata indicator led... comes on when power is applied to the new one, never comes on on the defective one. So if anyone is wondering, the led is near the sata connector between the power and data portions of the connector. It...

Re: Odroid HC1 does not see Sata drive

Sorry I forgot to answer about using a usb thumb drive, it did show/work. I did find a few references online where the odroid HC1 didn't see the sata drive due to not enough current from the power supply, so i ordered a beefier one just in case that is the cause. I have also tried an ubuntu server i...

Re: Odroid HC1 does not see Sata drive

I didn't see any usb mass storage from the command. I tested the power supply has the right voltage, but suspect it may not be providing enough amps.. even though it is rated at 4. I've ordered a beefier one rated at 6 amps, it won't be here until next week to try out. Will wait until then to try ag...

Odroid HC1 does not see Sata drive

Installed on Odroid HC1. The sata drive does not show at all when running lsblk, no sda under /dev Does the drive have to have a certain format prior to connection to be seen? I've done searches but can't find anyone having this trouble with a normal SSD. I've tried a couple of different drives each...

Re: "Simple"? ISC DHCP set-up using POE switch for cctv cameras

I'm still a little unclear of the process. Do you have to give an enable command for the dnsmasq to automatically start when the SBC boots and is connected only to the switch? To be able to ssh into the SBC when it is only connected to a switch... would both it and a laptop (temporarily connected to...

Re: "Simple"? ISC DHCP set-up using POE switch for cctv cameras

Yes, you understood correctly.

The SBC will either be a Pi 4 or and Odroid HC1.

I will do some research on the DNSMASQ before asking any further questions

Thank you.

"Simple"? ISC DHCP set-up using POE switch for cctv cameras

I want to use a headless setup to connect to and record from cameras through a POE switch only.. no router. Can an ISC DHCP installation be used for this? (Or is there a better way?) I am unclear on how it can be made to work in this scenario. Beginning questions.. if it can be done.. 1. How to ssh ...
