Re: Cannot get media server running in combination with external USB HD (using Samba)

let's put samba aside for time being. As I understood, your external HDD already contain the media files. correct?

let's check your HDD and how it is mounted

Code: Select all

cat /etc/fstab
lsblk -o name,fstype,label,size,ro,type,mountpoint,partuuid,uuid

Re: Unable to mount samba/cifs share on Pi

Well this is a permission issue. Are you sure you specified correct user/password and used the correct server path/folder?

Re: chromium doesn't tear off

Usually you should be able to install Chromium Browser using DietPi software.

Re: chromium doesn't tear off

Hi,

can you be a little bit more specific on your issue. Chromium Browser is not something DietPi specific. It's installed as apt packager from Raspbian repository.

Re: Moving from sdb1 to sda1

but I guess you would need to clone the drives before hand as first step. Cloning will sure your data are consistent.

Anyway, let's have a look to your drive configuration

Code: Select all

lsblk -o name,fstype,label,size,ro,type,mountpoint,partuuid,uuid
cat /etc/fstab

Re: Pi Zero W Project: Travel Storage Device

Yes the HotSpot implementation of DietPi is not that flexible. For installation, it require an Ethernet (eth0) as well as WiFi (wlan0) interface and of course an internet connection to be able to download packages needed.

As an alternative, RaspAP should be working as well.
