Re: Pi Hole DNS service dying

Hi. Your edit points to the right direction. You obviously have set (or use the default) logging scheme, that deletes the logfiles hourly. In case of pihole, it removes all entries from dates before the systems current date and then restarts the pihole service. I dont understand the corresponding co...

Re: Gmrender does not release audio interface

Hi, I just checked my combination of Gmrender and Shairport Sync, and found that Gmrender does not release the ALSA device, if I just pause the UPnP Stream. If I stop the stream, the audio device is released and can be accessed by Shairport Sync. I use 8player to send Audio from my Plex DLNA server ...

Re: Dietpi Services not starting

In the last few days every boot went fine, and I was wondering how that happened... I had switched to the dev branch in the meantime, with the already updated dietpi-postboot.service :D
So obviously no more problems now, thanks!

Re: Dietpi Services not starting

Update: I digged into the journal messages and compared a successful with an unsuccessful boot. Seems the problem is somehow related to Systemd and/or Plymouth. I can see that plymouth-quit-wait.service is started, because it says: Starting Hold until boot process finishes up... but plymouth-quit.se...

Dietpi Services not starting

Hi, recently I noticed that sometimes after booting my Raspberry not all of the Dietpi Services are starting, I assume it's all the postboot services, see this screenshot: dietpi-services.png At first I felt this only happens if I login via ssh directly after reboot, but this seems not to be the cau...

Re: PiVPN - possible to connect, but no internet

Hi, I had a similar problem that was caused by ip_forward not being enabled. You can check that by running cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward 1 If it is not 1, you should check whether in /etc/sysctl.conf you find a line like net.ipv4.ip_forward=1 If not, you need to uncomment/add it and then run sud...

Re: Newest update. HELP!

Hi, I had the same problem. DietPi wants to finish the update, but you probably did not ssh as root.
Try running

Code: Select all

sudo /DietPi/dietpi/login
It then finishes the update with the required Root priviliges.

Re: Strange incident with DietPi ramlog, rsyslog and PiVPN

Hi MichaIng - Rare/unlikely case: If rsyslog is required, but hourly clean and non-persistent logs are okay, install rsyslog but keep RAMlog. Basically, thats what happenend here. Unintentionally. rsyslog got installed, but RAMlog was never disabled. So it logged to /var/log and got copied/cleaned e...

Strange incident with DietPi ramlog, rsyslog and PiVPN

Hi again, I had a strange experience with the DietPi Log Setup that I thought might be interesting for the devs to know. So here's what has happened: I have run DietPi with DietPi Ramlog #2 (hourly backup, then clean) since I had the system installed. Some time ago I installed OpenVPN using PiVPN. D...

Re: dietpi-sync dry run option not working

Hi MichaIng , I‘m afraid there is another problem. Just checked whether the daily sync worked, and it did not :? The dietpi cron.daily script checks line 5 of the dietpi-sync_settings file, but after removing the compression flag from it, there are only 4 lines left in that file, so that check fails...
