Re: timesyncd service not starting.

Thanks for the reply. VBoxService may perform the same functionality, the time doesn't seem wrong on the machine. It might be helpful to know what prompted me to try and resolve this, is that I keep seeing errors on system startup: [INFO] DietPi-Run_NTPD | Waiting for completion of systemd-timesyncd...

timesyncd service not starting.

Hello again. I'm getting errors related to NTP. I check the status of timesyncd and see that it failed to start. $ systemctl status systemd-timesyncd ● systemd-timesyncd.service - Network Time Synchronization Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/systemd-timesyncd.service; disabled; vend or preset: en...

Re: Syncthing permissions to share while running in a VM

Thank you! You were right on the /etc/fstab The guide I followed to mount the hosts shared folder within the virtualbox guest system didn't cover changing the uid/gid in /etc/fstab so it was just root by default. I've removed my cron job, and am waiting for syncthing to transfer new files to verify,...

Re: Syncthing permissions to share while running in a VM

Sorry My last reply didn't address this. Basically if Syncthing created a folder, how does file system permission/owner/group looks like on the other systems? If syncthing creates a folder, that folder will appear on the destination dietpi as owned by user and group root with 775. If I look on the h...

Re: Syncthing permissions to share while running in a VM

Thanks for the reply. Changing syncthing to write files/folders as 777 would be one way certainly, but not the ideal way. I'm trying to figure out why the current owner/group permissions are not sufficient that require me to resort to the use of allowing write access to 'other'. What account or grou...

Syncthing permissions to share while running in a VM

Greetings all. I decided to update my home server setup from a pi3 running dietpi to a desktop for some more power. I enjoyed the ease of dietpi and saw it could run in virtualbox. So I have a host machine running virtualbox on linux mint, there is a VM_Share folder that I have setup that both the h...
