Re: no logs in fail2ban.log

No, "SYSOUT" is correct as the process in running as systemd service. It basically the same as "STDOUT" (logging as well to the "standard output" of the process) but omits timestamps and metadata which is added by the systemd journal already. You cannot do shell redirec...

Re: no logs in fail2ban.log

Checkout /etc/fail2ban/fail2ban.d/97_dietpi.conf, where logs are forced to STDOUT to avoid needing a plain text log file. If you need it:

Code: Select all

echo -e '[Definition]\nlogtarget = /var/log/fail2ban.log' > /etc/fail2ban/fail2ban.d/99_log_to_file.conf
systemctl restart fail2ban

Re: /etc/exports not working

Yes indeed those two fields are not required, we leave them out in all cases where the fsck flag (6th) is not wanted, hence all but root and boot mounts. _netdev and intr are set by default, hence have no effect, timeo=14 doubles the request timeout from 0.7s to 1.4s, reasonable in case of slow netw...

Re: Using C++ on Dietpi

The compiler package is: apt install g++ It pulls in the C++ standard library and development headers, as well as C compiler, standard library and headers, hence shouldn't leave anything open. The command then is g++ as well. Installed as well via Build-Essential in dietpi-software indeed, which add...

Re: problems starting nftables

The errors contain line and character coordinates within the file ;), so the file exists, but those four rules are invalid it seems. I have not much experience with nftables syntax, to be true, kept using iptables so far (which internally uses nftables as well on modern Debian with non-ancient kerne...

Re: How to Multi Instance Install Octopi on DietPi?

OctoPi or OctoPrint? Not sure what OctoPi adds on top of OctoPrint, I mean it is basically an own OS. dietpi-software installs OctoPrint as local user module, so it is difficult to use this instance by multiple users, but worth testing. The users then need to have their own home directory where conf...

Re: DietPi NAS w/online share

I run two drivers on one USB port with dual docking station here, and generally they appear as two fully dedicated drives, hence regarding RAID and any such there shouldn't be any difference. As of max USB 3.0 spec bandwidth and that all 4 USB ports share one PCIe lane, for concurrent R/W speak it s...

Re: User Data Location on NFS Drive

Great that this works. That the database is not on the NFS mount is definitely what you want! The many short queries Nextcloud does on MariaDB would suffer from a massive performance break down what this all would go through non-native network connections. Also database corruption on network issues ...

Re: dietpi resource lock systemd-udevd.service: Watchdog timeout

Did you check memory usage over that 72 minutes? It doesn't match any cron job or systemd timer schedule, so looks like something fills up or heats up (though you excluded CPU temperature already). We could try the "modern" KMS based camera driver stack, currently dietpi-config still enabl...

Re: Error running chromium rockpi4

Can you run the following from console (without a desktop session up) and paste the output?

Code: Select all

xinit "$(which chromium)"
and try to remove the EGL flag:

Code: Select all

sed -i 's/ --use-gl=egl//' /etc/chromium.d/custom_flags /root/.chromium-browser.init
xinit "$(which chromium)"
