@Joulinar : You were absolutely right. A simple echo "CONFIG_RD_ZSTD=y" > /boot/config-6.1.21-v8+ did the trick, when added right before #Make the initramfs in the nested script above.
This seems to be rather a weakness of the script. I will report to the community of Zymbit.
