RPI device have this fat partition since the beginning, even with original RPI OS. However it is not booting for you. So this can’t be the cause for your challenges with RPI5. And again there is nobody else reporting such issues for RPi SBC.

Correct, I just noticed that since the beginning of the month I have not been able to reinstall an RP5 SBC with the respective images. It doesn’t work with Radxa Rock 3A SBC either. Something must have gone wrong when upgrading to V 9.8.0. Upgrading running SBCs to v9.8.0 works without any problems.

Yes, but he also brought the RPi5 into play and made statements about v9.8.0 that the images no longer boot on any system. Which is simply not correct. RPi5 was just one example.

We still have to find out why the Radxa Rock 3A does not boot. But to do this it would need a serial adapter, which he does not have. So we don’t know what exactly the problem could be. Could be the kernel, u-boot or something similar.
