key remains in /root/.ssh/known_hosts

Disclaimer: I am less than a year into using Linux, have even less hours on my Pi, and just installed dietpi for the first time last weekend; so the following may be way off base.

As the title says, I still have the public key for in my known_hosts file. I am assuming this is the port used for sending survey information? When I declined the survey, I assumed that would have been deleted. Just curious if this was a malfunction or intentional (though I’m sure not malicious).

This is as intended. Disabling the survey will not delete the host key.

Will there be any adverse effects to deleting the key?

yes, you will get an error message after each software installation because the system will try to update an empty file (no data transferred)
