Roon Server database destroyed on each update

can the roon developer specify which directories needs to have which level of protection? Would be good to know what permissions are needed. DietPi is doing nothing else than extracting a zip file during installation. The entire folder structure is provided by roon. If there is a need to change file system permissions, it would be good to know where and which.

Personally I still find it strange that roon is providing an update script that wipe everything (incl user data) and only way to avoid is to write protect whatever folder/files. Would be better to have an update script that did not wipe everything instead of files needed.

There are many coding things strange about roon. I don’t like to say it but it looks like coders job security. So many things not conforming to standard practice and eventually leading to errors and problems…to be fixed later.

Has this behavior been fixed? I was thinking to move my Roon Core to my Dietpi AMD PC.

BUMP.

I too would like to know if the issue is resolved.

Please ask this at the Roon community forum: https://community.roonlabs.com/
I just compared our install steps with the ones of the official installer, and we do basically the same, aside of using a different install directory. So it’s not an issue with our setup but with the Roon Server internal updater. The knowledge base might give a hint as well, how it’s intended to be used: https://help.roonlabs.com/
