proftp v samba

I’ve been re-installing and optimising my Pi CM3 local server,
I use windows occasionally but mainly Linux mint PC’s and want to mount the network drive,
Samba would be the conventional route. However, I’m considering Proftp and CurlFtpFS on the Mint PC’s, which seems straightforward enough

Anybody had experience of doing this?

I wondering if there is any significance resource reduction or speed increase achieved to make it worth choosing Proftp over Samba
Thanks in advance for your help.

If you are using Linux, you could consider NFS as well.

Thanks,

I’ll try that. never used it before always used Samba or Proftpd.
Looks like a better solutions.
