Hello,

I stumbled across this article today:

> **[Portainer 3.0 is coming, and here's what it means for you — Portainer](https://www.portainer.io/blog/portainer-3-0-is-coming)**
>
> Learn about the future of Portainer - 3.0 - our new focus, and what it means for current and future users.

What does this mean for the integrated version 2.x LTS, or for Portainer in general as an integrated software package?

Will it continue to be supported, or should I look for an alternative, such as “Arcane”?

Regards,

kw

you can stay with the 2.x version as its LTS and will receive updates still. It might not get all features of 3.0 but should be sufficient for a home lab

From the side you linked

```auto
If you run Docker today, nothing changes for you on 2.x. We will continue to
ship security updates, bug fixes, and selective back-ports of 3.x features into
the 2.x line, so a decision to stay put is a supported decision.
Also Portainer CE will stay on v2 anyway. You also may not want the features from v3, which is basically moving away from Docker to Kubernetes.
Thank you both for your feedback. v2 LTS works fine for my purposes.
