# paket motioneye is broken

hi.

i spent my whole friday to just inform you, that the motioneye pip install method is broken.

if you download the repository directly via github and do the pip2 0.42xxxx.tar.gz the installation seems to work.

please note: you also have to install the service by yourself and do a steady config

tested on raspberry pi 3b+

many thanks for your report.

I did a test installation on my Demo VM and I was able to install MotionEye without issues

```nohighlight
Successfully built motioneye tornado pycurl

```

as well the service is running fine after reboot

Pls can you try again and copy the exact error message you are facing.

i uninstalled motioneye via pip2 and did a reinstall by the dietpi-software install 136 - and now it works fine. 🤔

**please see this thread now just as a hint for users, who receive a even error message like:**

“module not found” or “module unknown” or “status=XXXXX” or “any other script error” during installation. unfortunately i deleted the manual downloaded pypi file, which occurs this error.

just download the repo of motioneye on github by yourself: wget [https://github.com/ccrisan/motioneye/archive/0.42.tar.gz](https://github.com/ccrisan/motioneye/archive/0.42.tar.gz)🤣
