for me the Core installation was / is to limited:

that’s the deal with running HA core only

but not sure what to do with the network manager / restoring dietpi network management

you would need to reinstall / reconfigure ifupdown and remove NetworkManager. I don’t have a guide at hand. Usually ChatGPT is able to bring up something.
