I asked with vpn on and off, not killswitch on and off. Anyway, I suppose that it will be the same when you switch off the vpn.
It appears like mullvad is blocking communication to these nameservers, but at the same time is not replacing the nameservers with their own when the tunnel comes up.
What do the vpn logs say when you connect?

Better restart the vpn, then take the logs. These logs are not from the initial handshake.

I was testing the VPN kill switch last night and noted that it works only for some servers. It’s a server side issue. We can close this thread.
