Yes it’s my own script - is it bad practice to put custom stuff in dietpi_userdata?
maybe I misunderstood your quest. I thought it was a question what is this cron job doing and why it is not working.
But as it is your own one, you are fine to have it stored whoever you like. And you already found a solution.
