Bad screen after root login on xRDP

I have updated to bookworm yesterday, using the upgrade script on the blog, and I see that when I try to login using root user with xrdp, the screen looks like this:

When logging with dietpi user, everything is normal.

What can I check?

Thank you as always.

hmm maybe some files got corrupted??? If possible, you could try to remove xrdp and selected desktop to be able to perform a new install.

Ok, will try, just that it’s so strange that just root login doesn’t work…

I will comment back.

Ty.

After reinstall, same behaviour…

which desktop you are using? And can you share some system details as you somehow missed to fill our troubleshooting template.

Required

  • DietPi version | cat /boot/dietpi/.version
  • Distro version | echo $G_DISTRO_NAME $G_RASPBIAN
  • Kernel version | uname -a
  • Architecture | dpkg --print-architecture
  • SBC model | echo $G_HW_MODEL_NAME or (EG: RPi3)
DietPi version | 8.24.1
Distro version | bullseye
Kernel version | 6.1.63
Architecture | arm64
SBC model | odroid hc4

Sorry @Joulinar my mistake, I was in a hurry and I didn’t do it…

As you can see I am now on bullseye, because I sucessfully restored the backup (thank you dietpi-backup).

The desktop I have installed is Mate.

Solved finally, on RDP in Windows I had screen settings changed, and I had 16bit color depth, I have put 32bit and everything is back to normal.
