AdminLTE versions error

during the last update of the Pi-Hole components I noticed the following:

root@pihole-backup-II:~# pihole -up
[✓] Update local cache of available packages
[i] Existing PHP installation detected : PHP version 8.2.7
  [✓] Checking for git
  [✓] Checking for iproute2
  [✓] Checking for dialog
  [✓] Checking for ca-certificates

  [i] Checking for updates...
[i] Pi-hole Core: up to date
[i] Web Interface: up to date
  [i] FTL: up to date

[✓] Everything is up to date!
root@pihole-backup-II:~# pihole -v
  Pi-hole version is v5.17.2 (Latest: v5.17.2)
AdminLTE version is v5.20.2 (Latest: null)
FTL version is v5.23 (Latest: v5.23)

The AdminLTE version is correct, but shows Latest: null.
The system seems to work without any problems so far.
What could be the cause and how can I correct the error?

Pi-hole is installed on an RPi Zero W running DietPi v8.22.3.(Debian Bookworm)

Best regards,

I guess this is more visual than a real issue and should not impact operations.

As well more a Pihole issue than DietPi

Can you check versions listed in

cat /etc/pihole/version

The output shows this here:
root@pihole-backup-II:~# cat /etc/pihole/version
cat: /etc/pihole/version: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden

From the Pihole forum the ball was passed to DietPi and now back again?

See here:

Well the install and update tools are the original one from Pihole guys. Smart play from them as we are not involved in the update process if you are running pihole -up

And what does a small user do if the insiders are not quite of the same opinion?

it’s cat /etc/pihole/versions, a ‘s’ is missing in your commands!

Here comes the output:

root@pihole-backup-II:~# cat /etc/pihole/versions

Looked the same on my DietPi system before I made an pihole -up today . Now I have no null anywhere.

I repeated the update several times, unfortunately nothing changed for me.

Probably it jsut checks for an update and if you run the latest version nothing is written to your system. So my guess is with the enxt update it’s gont and it’s just an visual bug

Simply adjust the versions file and replace the null with current value and you should be fine.

Ok, I found it and changed it.

root@pihole-backup-II:/etc/pihole# pihole -v
